Similar to a secretary of state, the Alaska Division of Corporations, Business & Professional Licensing performs the same duties. For businesses and professionals, this category offers occupational licensing, professional licensing, licensing agencies, and information on licensing in Alaska. Providing competent, regulated, and professional commercial services to Alaskan consumers is the goal of the Division of Corporations, Business, and Professional Licensing. Hard copy forms are handled in 10 to 15 business days. Online filings, however, are immediately processed.

Corporations section

Records of domestic corporate companies and foreign corporations that are authorized to conduct business in Alaska are kept in this division. It serves as a depository for those records. The following tasks can be performed at the corporation division:

All businesses operating in Alaska must have a registered agent with an address in the state of Alaska. This includes corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, and limited liability partnerships. The registered agent must be a person who resides in Alaska or a company that is permitted to conduct business there. A company is not allowed to operate as its agent. Incorporated law firms and attorneys may also serve as registered agents. Domestic corporations and limited liability companies must file an initial biennial report or initial notification within six months of the entity’s creation date.

The Division looks into issues with professional licenses, endorsements, and business licenses. The Division of Corporations, Business, and Professional Licensing is the place where a complaint can be made. If a company is running without the necessary endorsement, an incorrect license, or neither, a report can be fiked to this division
